It happened AGAIN this week here at Sloane Staffing, a staffing agency in South Florida. We had a perfectly good candidate apply for a position, only to be turned down by a typo on the FIRST LINE of his resume. There are some things candidates out there need to understand. As a recruiting agency, we do not update or make changes to your resume - that is your work. We do not have time to critique your CV line by line (we look at over 50 resumes in any given day.) Please take it upon yourself to read through your resume multiple times before submitting it, going through it with a fine tooth comb to ensure there are no spelling or grammatical errors. We also HIGHLY suggest that you have a friend or family member review your resume prior to submittal, or even sending it to a company that specializes in this, to make sure your resume is absolutely perfect before submitting. Attention to detail is so important here, especially at the executive level, or if you are applying for any sort of administrative or content position. In today’s world, with so many spell check options available, typos are absolutely inexcusable. We ask you, please! Before you submit your resume for one of our open positions, triple check your CV is free of any typos or grammatical errors. Our clients expect perfection, you could be their next new hire and they want to ensure you are the absolute perfect fit. So, in turn, we also expect perfection! Just think about it. Imagine we have two very similar candidates with the same background and experience apply for a really great job - and you miss out and are eliminated because of something that can be so easily fixed, your resume has a typo in it. Don’t be that person and hire someone if you need help with your resume!

Here at Sloane Staffing, a tech company staffing West Palm Beach, we’ve noticed a trend: hiring temporary or “contract” workers, become increasingly popular. Hiring a temp, or a contractor, is a great way to test out the employee to make sure they fit with the company culture and can do the job they say they can, before bringing them on to the payroll permanently. It can be tough to land a good hire this way though, because a lot of candidates don’t want to leave their full time job if their next role is not a sure thing. It’s important to make contractors feel like they are just as much a part of the team as the rest of the organization. If you want to turn a temp, into a great full-time employee, there are a few things you can do. First, set clear expectations with the contractor. Don’t lie to them, and be transparent about their role, their salary, and if they will have the opportunity or not to become a full-time employee at your company. Temps are usually ambitious, and will go above and beyond what is expected of them. Also, be sure to provide lots of opportunities for them. This includes networking and learning opportunities. Provide the same training to a contractor you would a full-time employee. Also, show them recognition and support. By including them, they will want to join your organization just as much as you want to bring them on. With regards to day-to-day work, small and frequent recognition can go a long way to retaining your best-performing temporary workers. We hope these tips help you turn your temporary hire into a top employee at your company. If you need help from a tech company staffing West Palm Beach, contact us today at 561.512.8989.
We all know that looking for a job is not fun. It can take hours, and is often referred to as “a job of its own.” So, why not make looking for a job easy on your potential candidates? Everyone who has ever applied for or posted a job will agree that one of the most important parts of it is the job description. Make the application process as easy as possible, whether that’s online, or in person. When you and your teams are drafting the job descriptions, think like an applicant. You don’t want to lose your applicant because of a grueling application process. Keep the initial questions easy - you can always ask more in depth questions during the phone interview, or later on in the in-person interviews. The key is to write a job description that is appealing and will attract talent. After you have written it, read it out loud and ask yourself “would I want to do this job?” Job descriptions don’t have to be boring! It can be O.K. to add a little bit of humor to your job description. Now a days, you can also make them interactive or allow some form of response. This is crucial for you younger, smaller companies who lose out on good candidates to bigger competitors. Here is a good example of a job description: Group Media Director, Boca Raton, FL. And finding the right skills for your role is extremely important, especially for people who make sure that their skills will be used and appreciated. A well-written, exciting job description can make you far more successful in attracting the best. Check out six ways to tweak your job description to attract talent. If you can’t find good employees in West Palm Beach, contact Sloane Staffing today at 561.512.8989.

Sloane Staffing, a digital marketing employment agency in South Florida, is a white glove recruitment service that specializes in making the perfect match between company and candidate. We are more than just a hiring agency, we are consultants. The secret to our success is positioning ourselves as your internal recruiter, and leveraging our expansive network of potential candidates to source talented individuals who will fit both your business needs and your company culture. We comb through endless amounts of resumes to find ideal candidates, and take the time to set up and schedule interviews with them. We will essentially “weed out” any candidates we don’t feel are a perfect fit for your company, and will only present over those we believe that are top quality. We also take the time to analyze those resumes that were submitted, but necessarily did not have the exact job title requested. Top candidates are often overlooked by this small detail, but may actually possess exactly what you’re looking for – let us do this work for you. We firmly believe that recruiting is a three stage process (similar to sales):
First we build a candidate profile based on the requirements of the job that we gather during kickoff meetings with you.
Second we leverage phone, text, email, social media, and smoke signals to bend the ears of candidates looking for a new career opportunity.
Third we qualify the candidates for you using our thorough screening process, to ensure they meet all of your requirements and are within budget.
Finally, we present potential candidates and follow up every step of the way to coordinate phone and in-person interviews. We act as consultants to both our clients and our candidates. On the client side, we help our clientele save both time and money by doing the grunt work of staffing. Working together, we will find the perfect match for you and your organization! Call us today at 561.512.8989.
At Sloane Staffing, we’ve been working hard for one of our clients who can’ t find good employees in West Palm Beach. Unfortunately this morning, we had the worst possible situation happen for our client - the candidate they were supposed to interview was a “no-show.” In case you can’t figure it out by the name, a “no-show” is a person who has made a reservation, booking, or appointment but neither keeps nor cancels it. So, we thought it would be important to explain why you should NEVER no-show to an interview.
Besides the obvious reason of it being rude - every person in the company you were scheduled to meet with and interview with, has cleared their calendars for a block of time. They are just sitting there, waiting for you. By not showing up, or even calling to say you are not coming, reflects extremely poorly on the recruiter or HR person you worked with to get you that interview. It is completely out of the recruiters control whether you show up or not.
Another reason why you should never no-show, is that your name and reputation will be tarnished. And not just at the company you didn’t show up to. Recruiters will make notes not to send you to anymore interviews, and in small towns like West Palm Beach or Boca Raton, you will have trouble landing a job. In small towns, word travels fast, and even if you are a very strong candidate, no-showing starts you off on the completely wrong foot and with a bad first impression.
We can’t stress this enough here at Sloane Staffing, always, always show up to your interview or call and let them know you are running late or won’t be coming. For more tips and tricks on how to prepare for an interview, check out Live Career.
In addition to help filling positions in West Palm Beach, here at Sloane Staffing, we know just how important it is to give back to the community. Corporate philanthropy is defined as the act of a corporation or business promoting the welfare of others, generally through charitable donations of funds or time. Corporate philanthropy benefits the community and also benefits your company by building your brand and strengthening employee morale and camaraderie, bringing your teams together. It is important to get every one of your employees involved, at all levels. The CEO should be participating just as much as the interns. One of the more common corporate philanthropy events we see in South Florida is Habitat for Humanity. Schedule a day (or half day) to close your office and take your employees to this nonprofit organization that helps people in your community and around the world by building or improving a place they can call home. And if you want to get really creative, you can also start philanthropic traditions, such as choosing a different charity to focus on each year or during the holiday season. Regardless of company size, make sure your philanthropic efforts authentically align with your company’s values and beliefs. In recent years, the explosion of social media and the widespread adoption of its use by businesses and consumers has created a level of transparency that was completely unknown just ten years ago. With this new atmosphere of openness and dialogue at all levels of the business cycle, consumers have become far more interested in a company’s values and corporate responsibility than ever before. If you’d like to get involved, take a look at ten awesome companies doing corporate philanthropy right. And as always, if you need help filling positions in West Palm Beach or South Florida, reach out to Sloane Staffing at 561.512.8989.
Congratulations! You’ve made the smart decision to partner with a staffing agency. We all know that working with a recruiter can save you time and money when looking to hire qualified candidates for your business. But what can you do, the client, to help streamline the recruitment process and get the absolute most out of what you’re paying for? Here are our top 5 tips when working with a staffing agency:
Engage With The Agency: Here at Sloane Staffing, an agency staffing West Palm Beach, we provide multiple channels for you to contact our team. Reach out at (561) 512-8989, send us a note to email@example.com, or simply drop us a message on our web page and tell us all about your hiring needs.
Maintain An Open Line Of Communication: Once in contact with your recruitment agency, it is imperative to keep an open line of communication with them. Conversation only enhances their performance, and this client-vendor relationship thrives on communication!
Be Prepared: When asking your recruiter to start a new search for a position, always have the job description ready and confirmation that the position has been budgeted for and approved. In addition, make sure that you and your teams will have the time and resources needed to complete the interview process and on-boarding sessions with your potential new hire.
Provide Feedback Quickly: As soon as an interview has concluded, give feedback on your experience to your recruiter. Be direct and transparent, don’t beat around the bush or try and sugar-coat when delivering potentially negative news. Your agency will respect your honesty.
Be Proactive: In the hot job market that we are in, getting your phone and in-person interviews scheduled quickly will give you a competitive advantage. Candidates are interviewing elsewhere, and you don’t want to miss out on the perfect new employee to help grow and support your business because you weren’t being proactive enough.
We hope this guide helps you to work with your new staffing or recruiting agency. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us, at 561.512.8989.
